Medicating Your Meals with Cannabis: A Path to Sustained Health and Wellness
Incorporating cannabis into your meals can be a powerful strategy for sustaining health and wellness. Whether you’re using cannabis to manage chronic pain, reduce anxiety, or simply enhance your overall well-being, medicating your meals offers a convenient and enjoyable way to integrate cannabis into your daily routine. One of my favorite summertime recipes is the Chicken Caesar Macaroni Salad, a versatile dish that can be easily prepared ahead of time and infused with cannabis as needed.
Understanding the Effects of 11-Hydroxy-THC
When you consume decarboxylated cannabis, it is metabolized in the liver to form 11-Hydroxy-THC. This compound is different from the Delta-9-THC you inhale when smoking or vaping cannabis. 11-Hydroxy-THC is known for its more potent and longer-lasting effects compared to Delta-9-THC.
This makes edibles a great option for sustained relief. However, the onset of effects is slower, usually taking 30 minutes to 2 hours to kick in, so dosing accurately and starting low is key to a positive experience.

Recipe: Chicken Caesar Macaroni Salad
This Chicken Caesar Macaroni Salad is perfect for summer. It’s easy to prepare, can be stored for several days, and can be infused with cannabis to suit your needs. Here’s how to make it:
Ingredients:
- 2 chicken thighs or 4 legs
- 4 handfuls of pasta shells or elbows
- 1 carrot, chopped (optional)
- Broccoli heads, chopped (optional)
- Fresh multiplier onions, chopped (optional)
- Red and green peppers, chopped (optional)
- Fresh radishes, chopped (optional)
- Celery, chopped (optional)
- Fresh beans, chopped (optional)
- 1-2 small dill pickles, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
(optional: pick and choose what fresh raw vegies you’d like to add)
The Base
Instructions:
- Cook the Chicken: Boil the chicken thighs in water on medium for about 30-45 minutes until the meat falls off the bone. Remove the chicken and let it cool in a strainer, reserving the water.
- Cook the Pasta: In the same water, boil the pasta until soft. Drain and let it cool completely.
- Prepare the Veggies: While the pasta cooks, chop all your vegetables into small pieces.
- Combine Ingredients: Once the chicken is cool, remove the meat from the bones, discarding the skin and fat. Chop the meat into bite-sized pieces and combine with the vegetables in a large bowl. Add the cooled pasta and mix everything thoroughly.
- Store and Serve: Refrigerate the mixture. Over the next few days, you can use this base in various ways, infusing it with cannabis according to your needs.
Infusing Your Meals
The beauty of this recipe is its versatility. You can infuse individual servings with cannabis in a few different ways:
- Canna-Mayo: Mix a serving of the salad with a tablespoon of mayonnaise and your preferred dose of cannabis oil or tincture. Adjust the consistency based on your preference. This can be used as a pasta salad side dish or spread on a sandwich with lettuce or cannabis leaves.
- Canna-Budder: Add a teaspoon of cannabis-infused butter to a serving, heat it in a saucepan until the veggies are soft, and top with grated cheese for a warm, hearty meal.
- Canna-Caesar Wraps: Mix the salad with Caesar dressing (infused with cannabis oil or not) and wrap it with lettuce or cannabis leaves for a refreshing, portable meal.
Medicating your meals with cannabis doesn’t have to be complicated. With a little preparation and creativity, you can enjoy delicious, infused dishes that support your health and wellness journey.
